16mm

Taken from here. This is the exact model we used last night.
When Rachel’s class was cancelled last night. Rupert and I decided instead to go and watch a roughcut of our latest film ‘So, You want to make a film?’. We stumbled down to the tech’s room only it empty. So we walked down to the end room, as we heard some form of human activity down that and and we walked straight into the beginning of a 16mm class. Paul invited Rupert and I to stay, and we obliged.
I must say, it is fate. We were planning on shooting on 16mm in the next few weeks, and i only realised last night, how different the Arriflex 16mm is from a Bell & Howell 16mm to which i was previously more apt with. We learnt how to clapper load. Set the Camera up, break it down, we messed around with a wide angle lens and we learnt f stop and lighting. It was a much needed brush up for me, it being 2 or 3 years now since i last used 16mm. I also now know the F-stops off by heart

Anyway, i think we should have had a Masters class with 16mm, this was really high standard stuff. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Please feel free to add this to your blog.

Get off my patch man! I’m blogging about 16mm film classes! Hey, I was going to say, I have contacted that video clip guy, and when he gets back from overseas and if he wants me to shoot his clip - you can produce with money. And I already have a great idea for a clip. I want to shoot it at the docklands if we get this opportunity. I mean it’s only $150, 000 but heck, it’s more then what we’ve currently been working with.
I have thought long and hard about what I want for the video, I don’t want to compramise at this point, artistically - but I’m sure it won’t have to come to that.

I used to use the SR2 in professional productions, but then switched to the Arriflext SR3 with timecode negative stanping adapted toa super 16mm guage. I’ve never looked back - but then again, these days I’m shooting predominantly on 70mm MKIII Imax camera with a 2,500 foot magazine load!

If so, lets colaborate. We cant afford one but we could afford the stock.

Sadly, I don’t own any cameras - usually I’m hiring them from various camera hire businesses up here in Brisbane…
