Unknown Underappreciated Actors
I watch a lot of movies. I watch a little TV, (and I mean a little)
One thing I always notice is every-now-and-again an actor catches my eye. I often notice theses fantastic actors who have little to no profile. They are far removed from the more glamorous A -list actors, but in my humble opinion are far superior and versatile actors.
These are some actors whom I consider very talented and under appreciated.
I will add more as I remember them
Harold Perrineau is probably well known for his role on lost, but he first caught my eye as Mercutio in Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet. He then really got my attention in Oz, which is my favourite TV show.
Perrineau is a very versatile actor, he was perfectly cast as Mercutio, he is a very dramatic actor and I imagine would do very well on the stage. He had a weekly monologue on Oz where he had to introduce a scene several times during the show, and each time he was excellent. Why this guy is not better known is a crime
Chris Meloni is another favourite actor of mine, famous as Stabler in Law and Order. If any one has ever seen Meloni in Oz, you would understand why I think he is a powerful actor. If this guy had been born 20 years earlier, I have no doubt he would be in the same stature as De Niro or Pacino. Fantastic actor. Check him out in Oz if you ever get a chance. He is tough as f**k.
