"For as far back as I can remember, the line between fantasy and reality has been hopelessly blurred" Roman Polanski

Roman Polanski

As you may or may not know, I am a huge admirer of Mr Roman Polanski. If there were ever a filmmaker whose (professional) career I would like to emulate, then it would be Roman Polanski

I have been watching alot of his films lately. I started at the very beginning, having never really seen any Polanski films before (besides The Pianist) I started watching all of his student films from when he was student at Łódź Film School, including the much vaunted (and excellent) short film “Dwaj ludzie z szafa” (Two Men and a Wardrobe).

I have other reasons for liking him, he made his movies how HE wanted them made, he has such a high degree of technical film making skill that he never ever manages to reach his intended mark, but his films are still so incredible to watch.
I watched his first film, “Nóz w wodzie” (Knife In The Water) the other day and last night I watched “Repulsion”. I managed to get my hands on these films courtesy of my Polish technical friend Martin Koszolko.

This is a quote from Easy Riders Raging Bulls.

From the set of Chinatown

“Dunaway was puzzled about her character’s motivation and, by all accounts got little guidance from Polanski. He would shout, “Say the fucking words! Your salary is your motivation.”

  1. I do know that, tell me something new, like you farted in the face of James Cameron at the premier of ‘Titanic’.

All Portuguese people smell like sardines, and the Welsh like stout.

  3. It was a muddled dig between knowing you like Polanski and that story of Hollywood leading ladies taking pisses all the over place … then finished off with an Oven tribute but relating it to my two sides - the sardine side and the stout side.
