“Australian Film Industry in trouble”

This is what I hear, day in day out. I hear how there are these excellent writers who networks fight over to sign, and these excellent Directors who pretty much have to show up at an AFC party to get a film deal. Yet on the other hand I hear how the AFI is a steaming pile of horseshit.

Where do these ‘magic’ people go? How do they get in the position to fuck up a feature film anyway? I wish I had their opportunities.

Male Dominated Industry. I hear this again and again and again, well here is some news, I am a male and no one has helped me out one Iota. I get rejected just as much as everyone else, and I don’t attribute this to my sex at all, but this stereotype that seems to surround men in film seems like a bit of a cop out

Me and Rupert make films, we make a lot and we write a lot, and soon we start our first ever feature, no money, a full crew, underground filmmaking at its very finest. People ask us? “How do you do it?” and people say to us “That’s great, I wish I could just do that”, well we fucking do it, we do it for free and we do it for the pure passion of making film.

Perhaps that is why we don’t get any financial help.
