"For as far back as I can remember, the line between fantasy and reality has been hopelessly blurred" Roman Polanski

Long Time No Post

August 14, 2006

Well friends, its been a long time between blogs and I though, hmm, I might blog tonight, to tell y’all whats new in the land of Butch.

Firstly, me not blogging is by no means an indication i dont go to other peoples blogs, its just sometimes I do not feel the need to comment. But I will advertise my 4 most commonly visited blogs.

Onlines

A witty blog by Open up and say R. Owen. My name pops up from time to time on this azure blue back blog hosted by a guy i refer to these days as ‘probably my best friend’.
My current favourite of his is his Favourite film lines series. Check it Favourite film lines

The Daily Screamer
The best named blog on the net, hosted by an apparent mad man who runs around with a camera capturing life in its purest state, whatever that is. Alas, I have never met ChrisyG but i have the feeling the time is nigh. Him being a fellow QLD’er an’ all.

Daisies In The Gutter
The dramtically named blog by a misunderstood multifaceted Melbourne artist. S. Gregory’s blog makes great reading for the words he uses alone. Its also a blog where posts appear and dissapear intermitenly… spooky man spooky. Drop him a line, on what is a fairly popular blog. S. Gregory writes a great article on Brisbane, being another fellow QLD’er.

On the topic of websites. My cousin in South Africa and I have started a new business. Be sure to check out the website, and tell you friends, or yourself, I can set you up with a killer deal Doman Volt

Also, Son of Marshall has had a mini face lift, although it is not yet complete. Please have a look

Now, onto my filmic pleasures of late

Just a quick overview, in chronological order

Midnight Cowboy.

Great flick, excellent performances by a young Hoffman and Voight. I love these types of films. Great ending

Rumble Fish

Sorry about the large picture, it was the only one I could find that shows Mickey Rourke in all his glory as Motorcycle boy. This is officially now in my top 30.

Annie Hall

More notorious these days because it beat out Star Wars for the best picture oscar. I for one am glad it did, it is a uique pure film.

Tess

Polanski shows them how to make a period film. Beautifully made in typical Polanski fashion. And Natassja Kinski is really something else. If i found an actress like her, I would be happy man.

Well thats it for now, comment away!!!

  1. Howdy Butch! Yes, the time is nigh - spread the word for I may be in your neck of the woods in the next few months. I’ll be sure to keep you posted and look very much forward to finally meeting you and shouting you a beer (or three). Keep up the good work!

  2. Thanks for putting in a kind word on my ‘dramatically named blog’ (well, after all, I list ‘toss-pot’ as an adjective describing me on the blog!).

‘It’s also a blog where posts appear and dissapear intermittently’: that is strange to hear. Strange, indeed, for I don’t ever delete my posts. Must be some weird Blogger shit; it stuffs up at times.

Thanks, and keep reading - and writing the intelligent film impassioned blog of your own!
